Why Exercise is important for Men’s Health
SNAPSHOT ON MEN’S HEALTH:
- Men have a life expectancy of approximately four years less than their female counterparts
- Mortality rate of men is greater than women from almost every non-sex-specific health problem.
- 7/10 Australian men are overweight or obese
- Australian men are more likely to get sick from serious health problems than Australian women.
- 1/7 Australian men experience depression or anxiety (or both) in any given year
- Approximately half will experience a mental illness over their lifetime
- Men are 3x more likely to take their own life than women

An active Lifestyle plays a vital role in keeping Aussie blokes healthier, happier and alive for longer. There is a long list of benefits of participating in regular exercise and physical activity:
- Helps maintain healthy body-weight and reduce risk of chronic conditions and injuries.
- Builds cardio-respiratory fitness, where a high level is one of the best predictors of overall health.
- Helps build and maintain positive mental health
- improves mood and helps manage stress and anxiety
Despite the benefits, Our Aussie Men arent moving enough!
Less than half of adult men (18-64) are meeting the recommended guidelines of activity. Unfortunately this number drops further as the population ages.
This Men’s Health Week we want to encourage all Aussie men to grab a mate and get moving.
