We pride ourselves on our ability to get injured workers back to work as quickly as possible with accurately guided recommendations as to suitable duties. Our communications provide doctors, case managers and rehab consultants all the information they need to assist the worker’s return to work. Active management is our specialty!

Wherever possible, we encourage injured workers to attend our practice as soon as possible. There are advantages to attending physio before attending the doctor. We have the time to spend in reassuring the injured worker that the vast majority of injuries fully resolve in a short period of time, and even more serious injuries can largely resolve, given good management. We make every effort to avoid “medicalizing” injuries – we take the time to explain medical terms, which can often sound frightening to the layman, creating counterproductive beliefs and causing self-limiting behaviour that can actually make the situation worse.

We aim to ensure the worker has a good understanding of their condition, what they can expect to happen during their recovery, how they can help and how we will work together on an agreed action plan, progressing toward identified goals.

Once we have met with the injured worker for the first time, we communicate with the Nominated Treating Doctor, the insurance agent and where possible with the employer, to ensure that accurate measures of capacity are conveyed, which will allow for accurate medical certificates to be written and suitable duties identified.
